Hi all I wouldn't normally post about a book, but I picked up Last Light a couple of weeks ago as I really wanted to start reading novels again as it's been a while since I have bothered. I am so glad I did as I just thought the book was superb a real page turner but also a truly terrifying and all too believable story. It makes you think long after you have finished it and you just wonder will this ever happen and if so god help us. I have just ordered the other two novels from Amazon which have been despatched so I should get them early this week I think I will read a Thousand Suns first, I can't wait. In the interim I bought a paperback to keep me going without reading any amazon reviews...what a mistake it was awful I couldn't carry on with it, as Last Light really raised the bar for me so I have to wait and not read in bed while my wife linda happily reads away, she is going to read Last Light next. Keep up the good work as you have another avid reader so come on get on with the next one I do think it's great that you have a forum that you actually look at, good on you.
Regards
Andy

i think the reviews on amazon help show just how damn good the book is 45 reviews and still 4.5 /5 stars. Its an exceptional book and should scare the crap out of any sane person

How about a private poet to me. I'm intrigued!

By the way is it a sort of a gothic genre?

There were six more words right at the end of the book, that I deleted in the final draft. Those six words flipped the whole tale on its head and made it very Halloween. I think it's a better book for not having those words though.
Ankhsy Posted - 27 October 2008 : 11:07:11 AM
Actually, it's a very Halloween type book. Isn't it?

Hi Marvindi...thanks for taking the trouble to look me up. It gets me tap-dancing for the day when I get a bit of positive feedback like that.

And of course, welcome to the forum. Nice bunch here. It's been a pretty useful place for me to pick up book reccomends actually.

best

I've just finished October Skies. All i can say is WOW! I've never taken the time to search out an author on the internet so you should guess i am in rapture about this book. I have been bending the ears of anyone who will listen. I was truely gripped and often a little creeped out (haven't felt that since i read Pet Cemetary all those years ago). I had already read A Thousand Suns and Last Light and loved them but October Skies is up a gear.

Yes we are aren't we?

[Raptor smiles]

That could be dangerous.

No problem Alex I always give praise where it's due. linda empathises with your comments as she is a self employed artist and probably goes through the same doubts etc that you do, she is a bit of a worrier but she still says she wants to read Last Light next :] I just got the other two books today so will be starting A Thousand Suns tonight.

Kind regards
Andy

Hi Andy, thanks for those kind words. It means a lot to an author, knowing that 6-12 months of hard work has paid off, and you've connected with a stranger somewhere. It's a lonely bleedin' business, this writing thing...nice to get feedback like that.

You'll enjoy the other two books...I'm sure. They're not quite so relentlessly grim.

best

Alex

nb: Your wife will not be a happy bunny after reading Last Light. STOP HER NOW...before she gets started!!!!!

;-)
