Posted - 16 February 2009 : 4:46:55 PM The publisher for Streamers had a marketing meeting today and decided to rebrand the series as TIME MATRIX.
What's your initial reaction? You like? You not like?
I do take onboard their point that getting 'time' into the title helps get the core premise across. But my gut reaction is a one-word title has more impact than a phrase.
Can anybody come up with a cool sounding one word title that uses 'time' and sums up the concept of 'time travel policing agency'
Obviously TIMECOP has been done. :-) |

Posted - 06 March 2009 : 12:33:54 PM I don't mind the kids listening to what I think of as rubbish, every generations always says their kids'music is rubbish. What I object to is having the kids' rubbish inflicted on _me_ by shops that play it so loud that it can heard not just outside but 100 yards away. Or 100 metres, which is even further.

Posted - 06 March 2009 : 09:59:22 AM I remeber my Mom thinking I listened to rubbish as a kid. Nowadays they are called 'golden oldies'.

Posted - 05 March 2009 : 8:28:28 PM yeah...it's sort of growing on me. Puffin recently did a focus test...brough a bunch of lads in who represent the target market. They preferred TimeRiders over Streamers. The latter name didn't tell them enough.
So...there you go. The sales/marketing people seem to know their stuff. And I know jack. |

Posted - 05 March 2009 : 6:55:40 PM TimeRiders?.....[goes away and thinks about it]
......[comes back]
I can live with that.

Posted - 27 February 2009 : 4:50:01 PM I can see they're thinking....11+ is the primary market. So to play it safe, they're aiming the title/cover design at them. |

Posted - 27 February 2009 : 3:30:52 PM well im going to read it, and i know quite a few other adult readers i should be able to get to read it...maybe word will spread...but your right a cleverer title might have helped, im guessing they are not aiming at the adult market at all?

Posted - 27 February 2009 : 3:20:52 PM I'm hoping I can convince a few adults to read it too. Hence my enthusiasm for a 'cleverer' title. Ah well....if I can do my bit to make books 'cool' for 11+ lads, then I'll be happy. |

Posted - 27 February 2009 : 09:49:01 AM Time riders...mm..i suppose it may grow...but it does link well with Alex ider if thats what they were trying to do (that is a very popular kids series)

Posted - 27 February 2009 : 09:03:47 AM I still prefer streamers, but are we all a little "old" in that thought process??? wouldn't the title TimeRiders will mean more to the kids who will see the title on the shelf, maybe will generate more impulse sales??

Posted - 27 February 2009 : 08:28:25 AM It looks like 'TimeRiders' will be the title of the first book and the series brand. Now I need to start learning to love it. :-) |

Posted - 19 February 2009 : 2:19:12 PM Yes...I wasn't entirely wowed by the choice of name. It feels a tad cheesy. |

Posted - 18 February 2009 : 12:04:01 PM Streamers sounded good. 'Time Matrix' sounds cheesey and in my oppinion would turn peeps off with 'Oh another time travel story!.....groan!' I mean that sounds like the central core of a time machine straight out of an old Sci-Fi movie like the 'Flux Capacitor' LOL.
Parms 'Continuum' seems good, The word 'Time' seems dated to me.

Can't say I think Time Matrix has much going for it. Sounds like a Dr Who bit of bogus science. |
