I have a list of possible titles for the eagle books and want to refresh it a bit. So, as if you couldn't guess, the competition works like this. Suggest some titles for the new eagle books. The only rules are that they must contain the word eagle and not be naughty.
The prize. Any title that gets used will win the entrant a signed first edition of the relevant book, plus any other goodies that I have handy at the time.
Closing date: end of August (when I will have finished the cuurrent bout of travelling).

1. The Eagle Strikes 2. The Eagles Revenge 3. The Eagle Triumphant 4. The Eagles Siege siege of Jerusalem (I think) 5. The Eagles Betrayal 6. Eagle and the Snake 7. Defeat of the Eagle or The Eagles Defeat 8. The Eagles Surprise 9. Legend of the Eagle or The Eagles Legend 10. Rise of the Eagle (possibly be Vespasians rise to the throne) 11. Fall of the Eagle (Vespasians Death) 12. An Eagles Plight 13. The Eagles Fury (possibly a revenge, or possibly they get mixed up in Vittilus's death after his few months on the throne. 14. Rage against the Eagle 15. The Eagles Fortune Cato and Macro getting involved in a large monetary theft and/or corruption and investigating, Preatorians etc. Again probably another appointment from Narcissus. 16. The Emporer's Eagle or The Eagle and Emporer 17. Belief in the Eagle 18. The Eagles Conundrum 19. Lost to the Eagle 20. The Mystery of the Eagle 21. The Eagles Shroud 22. Eagle Ascending or Eagles Assension

Hey I'm new, I read the first 5, now just have to wait for the next to be released in the US... It's a long wait. Anyways here are a couple ideas, I hope they help or atleast give you ideas for other titles. The Eagle's Capture, The Eagle in the Shadow, The Eagle's Fall These names would imply a capture of the Eagle Standard. It was something the Legions would fight hard to return. The Eagle in the Shadow I'm not to big on, but it sounds like it would be more of a mystery type of book. Within the Eagle's Sight, A Feat of the Eagle I think this might be a good name for a sack of a large city of importance. Eagle Under Siege, An Eagle's War Machine These names for either being under siege of a enemy or sieging a large city. The Eagles' Valiant, Valor of the Eagle I think this would be a good name if they fend off a superior enemy and winning the battle with huge loses but courage being the factor that won the battle. The Eagle's Temptation Roman leaders won praise for being abitious and risk taking. I think this would be a good title for a leader who takes on more then he can chew and gets the whole Legion in trouble. Sounds alittle familiar, but just an idea. :) Hope that helps. |

Welcome, BlueShirtsFan! Your handle sounds as though you're a supporter of a sport team? Come and join us in the 6-word story - take time to read the latest cast list and compilation so you know what's supposed to be going on, it's a bit confusing otherwise.
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome. And I'm a Hockey fan, to be specific a fan of the New York Rangers. I'll check out the 6 word story, and maybe at some point post in it. Thanks again. |

I think eagles are usually described as screaming. Maybe not quite the image for a Macro and Cato book - The Eagle's Scream might sound as though they were frightened!

Eagles scream? I didn't know that. I don't suppose "The Eagles' Shriek" would give a better impression?

I'd suggest some variant of The Eagle and the Wall - gets our favourite Centurions back to Britain and it doesn't have to be Hadrain's Wall but some other plan.
Also The Eagle in Revolt - so we can see Boudicca again. Not to mention giving Simon the chance to use that ancient joke "Sir, Sir, the natives are revolting! Gods, yes, aren't they." Followed by Macro telling some squaddie to stop panicking. very big grin.
Cheers

I am not a nit picker, I swear I am not a nit picker I have never picked a nit in my life, but it couldn't be Hadrian's Wall in the time of Claudius, or Nero or Vespasian and don't think even our brave Centurions would last long enough to live in the time of Hadrian.

Precisely why I said it didn't have to be the Wall that everyone automatically thinks of! But the Romans built plenty of walls all over the place, around their forts for a start, and I was thinking that a bit of misdirection would be fun for the readers.
