Before today, the biggest celebrity I'd met was Chas, from Chas 'n' Dave. (I've met famous politicians but they're not slebs, and paid to see some slebs, but that doesn't count either.)
But today I hit the jackpot with....
wait for it....
wait for it....
drum roll.......
David Beckham.
It was at 4.20 this afternoon in Wilmslow. He'd just bought a pastie at the baker's just off the high street.
No, I'm not joking. This is absolutely true.

No one has topped Beckham yet.
But if someone has met a cast member from the original Star Trek, now that would be something. |

This year is the 40th Anniversary of Star Trek, but I'm going to be in the USA (July) a month too early for the conventions! Aaarrggghhhhhh! I have met William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) and James Doohan (Scotty) in several previous conventions in the 1990s. It was brilliant! Apart from William Shatner who has an ego the size of a planet, they are ('were' in the case of James Doohan) such nice people.
Yup, don't get me started on Nigel Mansell.

Has anyone met someone famous and pretended not to know who s/he was? Bet that pi55ed them off!
I'd love to do that to someone who thinks they're ace (good word, ace) - someone like Jeremy Clarkson or Nigel Mansell or Diana don't-you-know-who-I-am? Ross. |

i treated geoff capes like he was a pain in the ass.....thats becasue he was a mega arrogant one, i was supposed to fetch and carry for him all day, he treated me like dirt so in the end i told him to get his own fecking bag, if he did more himself he might not be such a fat tosser...its not ignoring him but it worked for me.....got in major trouble with my coach for that one. I suppose you could say i ignored steve cram and seb coe, i was in a charity mile with them once....i ignored them so much they finished the race way ahead of me...LOL

I think I've mentioned it before, but I was once told to f***k **f by Prince Philip back in the 1970s when I was crossing his yacht (actually, the yacht of ex-King Constantine of Greece) to get to my grandfather's yacht, after a race out in Mallorca. Does being hurled abuse at count as 'meeting'?

Gosh, no. I was so shocked, I was only a kid and he was pretty sloshed anyway. I just scampered away and reported him to my Grandfather (who was the Secretary of the Yacht Club) who told me to just ignore him as he was rude to everybody.

I once met eyes with Bill Clinton. He was being driven through Shepherds Bush with police escort etc, and passed within a couple of feet of me. Our eyes met, I grinned...he nodded.
Frances (my significant other) has stood within a few yards of Nelson Mandela when he visited London, as guest of the Corporation of London. She nearly swooned. |

I was in NY two weeks ago for my wedding and shared the lift with Jessica Simpson in the Soho Grand Hotel - she was rather thick to talk to but rather cute to look at ;)

Man all I have is a handful of racing drivers to my name from a few British GP's!! huh! i havent lived!!
Suppose i have met 'Soon to be (hopefully)famous' people.
Well actually i have spoken to Elvis Presley on myspace. ROTFLOL!!! He's on my friend list, cleary some sad git who knows all everything about him and proably knew him personally. It's wierd cos if you didn't know any better you would actually think it really was him....
