Here's a question for you all to mull over.
Why do we have The Royal Air Force, The Royal Navy yet the Army is just The Army?
Why isn't it The Royal Army? I guess there's a logical answer, but I've no idea...

Hello all.
The reason why the Royal Army has ceased to exist was because it was disbanded after been defeated by the Roundheads at the end of the Civil War.
Hence why the modern British army dates from 1661.
