Ok things are fairly quiet on this front, lets get some enthusiasm going, what are you expecting from this what do you hope to see in the book.
Does anyone know about this area and period of history?

Short of Sharpe, not a huge amount about that period, but it's one of 2 periods of history that defined the world as we know it. (the other is the Roman empire funnily enough..hehe)
Really looking forward to it whatever as i loved Bloods and would like to See how Wellington and Boney became to great, as all we ever hear about is Waterloo. Even though it's fiction it's still got loads of fact in it to teach you something that only happened 200 years ago, rather than 2000 years ago.

I loved the really personal bits in the book the bits that fit so well with the story and then turn out to be factual...EG i really loved the snowball fight scene on of the best in the book. I hope there are many more of the same things in generals?? (Simon and hints???? will there be???)

exactly, it gives us the world rather than just the battle bits like so many other books based upon that era. will be interesting how king goerge comes across and all the other people who existed in the personal staff of both these men and Simon's take on them.

yea, I like the extras
it'll be good to see how well Arthur does in India, then in his campaign on the Iberian
also, the other character stuff should be good, like the command staff, etc

I reckon we will meet much of Wellingtons Cadre who stayed with him (names escape me) and probably several of Napoleons Grand Marshalls (Soult etc etc)
but i might be wrong, only the man himself knows...

Deatils Simon Details unfortunatly the 31st is a thursday so i cannot get down there!! ....i suppose without me and andy you will get througnh a whole launch with no heckling from the back row at all!! .....shame!!! LOL

Seems to be a Headline thing to coincide with the official launch dates??? not sure, have ot wait for Simon to clear things up.

Got my ticket & booked my flight. I'll train it into Norwich. I get into Norwich around 4pm so I guess I'll have time to take in the Cathedral.

Ok well i got to start this at about 10pm last night.....and now many thanks simon, the next time i looked at the clock it was 3am...due to a complete inability to sleep past 6am i'm going to have to get through today on 3 hours sleep. But that aside the book so far is bloody fantastic.!!

i didnt want to wait for my orders from the scarrow shop, so tapped up the publishers for s review copy a while back and it arrived sat morning. Finished the whale road last night and started Generals immediatly...have to say BTW that the whale road is a very good read also.
