Well my reviews been posted (on a leading bookshops website) so now I can post it here. Please let me know what you think.
***
Fantastic Thriller! Frightening Reality!
We live in a world reliant on oil. Petrol for our cars. Electricity for our homes and workplaces. Fuel for the trucks, ships, planes and machinery that provides us with the very basics we need to live, food and water. For us to continue the way we are, the oil must flow.
But what if it stops? In Last Light, Alex Scarrow dares to ask that question. And the answers he provides are shocking.
Last Light is an action packed Thriller set in a world that within days finds itself in the grip of anarchy and chaos. It is well written, fast paced and with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing right up to the last page. Alex Scarrow manages to touch on every aspect of modern life, from Chavs and Hoodies to the war in Iraq. From government spin doctors to globalisation, and uses them to show just how fragile the world we live in is. But it is also a human story, as we see these events through the eyes of Andy Sutherland and his family, as they struggle to stay alive and find a way to be reunited.
I have read few thrillers that have kept me so enthralled with its plot and characters. And none before that have made me consider just how much we rely on oil for our very survival.
We think that we’re safe in Britain. We think that what happens in the Middle East doesn’t really effect our way of life. We think that the oil will just keep on coming. We’re wrong!
What will you do when the oil runs out?
***
And as a little addendum, thanks Alex for writing such a great thriller.

Ah, now that would be telling.....
Oh well.....
It was Waterstones.
The link is http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/displayProductDetails.do?sku=5651410. Though be careful, as some of the reviewers aren't being so careful when it comes to spoliers as I have tried to be.
All the Best.

I really should get around to writing a longer review...this has been on my site for a while...
This book WILL be the thriller of the year, its a cover to cover gripping what if that will suck you in and leave you thinking, wondering and probably a hell of a lot scared about just how fragile our modern lifestyle really is. I dare any of you to read this book and finish it with a clear concience about your carbon footprint, to not check the cupboards to see what food you have in and to wonder if leaving the city might be an ideas...those programmes about a better life in the country will not look so stupid to you anymore!!

nice review there Dragon, sums it up nicely i reckon...hehe and I agree with Parm, that after reading it, I started to think more about TVs, Game Consoles, lights being left on needlessly and recycling, really scary really even worse that some of the people who live in my area are these Chavs or Hoodies....frightening.

Im off to a friends mums house in north wales...half way up a mountain with its own well, farm land and hidden away from the casual passer by.
I know its tough for thos being rationed but this could not really be better timed for alex's book especially if it really hits the press....all just remember you can help any other forums you go to advertise the book, tell your friends...word of mouth is a powerful advertising tool.

Well i read i a while back, so i think it's only fair i put a review on here....
Last Light by Alex Scarrow - Review
What happens if the oil stops flowing tonight?
That’s what Alex Scarrow’s new thriller dares to ask. Last Light is a humanised thriller about one mans struggle to get home to his family from across half the globe after a series of terrorist attacks effectively cease the oil production for the whole planet overnight.
Over the course of a week, the world goes from peace to anarchy with the simple removal of the flow of oil. Alex Scarrow takes you on an emotional journey seen through the eyes of Andy Sutherland and his family, a family trying to re-unite against all odds. The soldiers stuck in far away lands just doing their jobs, equally desperate to get home. To the various governments and the extreme measures they are forced to take to contain the violence that erupts. Last Light takes you down to the depths a man or woman will go to survive when things get out of hand and the food stops flowing.
Think of all the riots you've seen on the news, of people begging for food in a far away land - now have that on your doorstep only people are not begging for food they are kicking in your front door to get that food what ever it takes.
Think how much of your daily life is dependent on Oil? From the humblest bottle of Evian, to the van that delivers your online shopping to the great airplanes in the sky.
I dare you not to be shocked by the list you come up with, and to not come away from this book thinking more about recycling, self sufficiency and the worlds dependence on oil.
Last light is unleashed July 2007.

I run a bookshop mate so i get an advance copy from the publisher, and works for a dept store and they have a book store so he pinches their advance copy. Might sound like easy books but there is a lot of hard work involved in keeping book shop going, keeping up with reviews, making sure you keep current with the publishers and the books.
In the case of this books its well worth it...besides...you have the joy of still being able to read the book for the first time...i always love the first read of a great book...and this is a great book. I will never have that first read again...boo hoo!!

Yep that just about sums it up, I got my advance readers copy about 6weeks back, but they are few and far between.
Last Light is well worth the read, and I will read it again in a nice new shiny hardback.
