Absolutely mate, I've just got past the sacking of the village of the Black Flame Knights, still can't get my head around a girl whirling a broadsword around to log off heads,

I didn't get the feeling she was a female version of Arnie, but it's possible that comes out a little later in the book.

Bout 50 pages into 'Imperium' by Robert Harris. About the life of Cicero from the perspective of his slave/secretary. really enjoying it so far. Anyone else read it?
Did you have a good world when you died? Enough to base a movie on?

I've got it in my pile to read, lots of people have said good things about it, so might have to bump it up the pile a little. Parm's read it I believe.

Yes, I read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. That book gave me the image of Cicero that is in conflict with his representation in 'Rome'.

| I'm currently reading 'Colours Aloft' by Alexander Kent. It's part of the Bolitho series and I'm really enjoying it as usual. Alexander Kent is one of my favourite non-Scarrow Historical authors and I've been reading his books for years. If anyone wants to read great Napoleonic Naval Novels (NNN), I would suggest these. |

hmm, I'll definitely look up Kent's books, thats one area of the Napoleonic wars I've not read much on. always been the land based stuff.

Same here. I just adore books, specially hardbacks. I have to really control myself at auctions.
Speaking of which, anyone come across flatsigned.com? It's an american signed edition website that also hosts an online auction for the books it sells (if you ask them to). I've bought some very good value US authors first editions. Have a look. http://www.flatsigned.com/

The navigator by cussler....a damn good adventure novel one of cusslers best...a nice way to spend a day or 2.
am now reading Judas strain by James Rollins...a bloody good thriller (adventure) so far, lots of fights , battle and body count and im only 80 pages in, there is intrigue and plot, very fast pace and we still have not got to the meat of the deadly virus that threatens to destroy the world...with a nice hook out to Marco polo being involved...
