Having read Trafalgar by Nicholas Best I really want a go at playing the mighty Nelson vs Vellneuve.
Any idea if there is a game out there for this?

| I expect you're after a computer game :), but to offer a suggestion GMT Games have just released a new boardgame called Flying Colours that might be of interest: http://www.gmtgames.com/nnfc/main.html |

Navel games oh err ;)
The problem with board games are you need an opponent to get the most enjoyment out of them. Although there are some decent java programs being written nowadays with fans adding the lastest games to them when time allows. Like www.vassalengine.org which allow the game to be played online in real time or by e-mail turns. |

Age of Sail II is a good game, and you can customise scenarios to a degree. It (or the original AoS) even has a Lydia Vs Natividad scenario for the Hornblower fans.
Imperial Glory has a fun but simple and pacy element of naval warfare. Worth a look, especially as it is in the 2 for 25 quid patch in Game. |

I never got on with the navel bit of Imp glory, very good idea and well executed but i dont think i could get past the slowness of battle having to make a pass and swing round for another. (although my ships always would swing off the map and dissappear...)

I got really good at the sea battles! In one battle I once managed to sink 5 Prussian sloops with my one very slow Ship of the Line. The problem was the land battles; once France and Prussia became huge empires I found it really difficult. i would envade Morocco, and then Tunisia and Egypt etc. Problem was, they woul send army after army against me and wear me down. Any tricks I should know about? I've gone back to RTW, and trying to play on the hardest setting.

Justin, the trick i found with the land battles is not to over extend, take it stedy, if your playing as the UK build up your red coats and the pick a point and invade, but ensure you have the troops to invade and then move more in to secure then you can buildthat country up then expand, and the obvious one trade, setup trade routes so you have enough money to train more troops and as many troops as you can that your not using keepthem in barracks etc, as they will cost you nothing to keep there, only on campaign they cost you money.
