Hi there: Hopefully some of you - perhaps even Alex? - may help me. My name is Brian Christensen. I'm at the moment translating "Last Light" into Danish and have come across the slang term "boomers" in the scene where Leona and Jake are close to being discovered in their hiding place by the gang of looters. This gang is interrupted by another gang, and one of the members says: "****, Boomers. They got ****in pieces!" (page 336, end of chapter 77). What kind of people are "Boomers"! What signifies them?
Hi brianchris, yes....it's just a name for an urban gang from a neighbouring area. I made the name up - something sounded like the various teenage gangs you get around White City/ Shepherds Bush...west London basically.
Hi again. Thanks for the quick answers. So it was quite simple, really. I realise now, that the capitalization of the name should have given me a clue. Great read, by the way, Alex. Just keep 'em coming so I don't get unemployed.
