Fire and Sword - Pre Order Now.
http://www.scarrowshop.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=34

The third in this epic quartet of novels focusing on two giants of European history, Wellington and Napoleon.

In the early years of the nineteenth century, Arthur Wellesley (elevated to Viscount Wellington in the course of the novel) and Napoleon Bonaparte are well-established as men of military genius. Wellesley has returned from India, where his skill and bravery made a remarkable impression on his superiors. He faces trials and tribulations on the political scene before becoming embroiled militarily in Copenhagen, then Portugal and finally Spain. Napoleon, established as Emperor, is cementing his control on Europe, intending finally to crush his hated foe across the Channel: Britain. The time is fast approaching when Wellington and Napoleon will come face to face in confrontation and only one man can emerge victorious...

i'd be careful about extending a numbered run if you have sold it to booksellers mate, im ok about it, but some of the others out there (who i have dealt with myself) would get quite testy about it, if you advertised and sold it as x / 25 on the web site then you would have to try something else, changing it could cause lot of bother for you.

fair point but then again if they threaten theat they will not get any others....

I'm not far off, so just a couple of dissappoints people. ho hum, just need to fix cubecart now... I know why it does it, but not how to stop it. (it's when an order comes ine it goes to pending which doesn't reduce the stock until i change it to processing, i think it's something to do with paypal... any ideas?)

It's to do with the status in order management, it's something to do with the return from Paypal, possibly the buyer isnt clicking return to site to tell the site they have paid.
not sure, looking a little tired now so need something flashier

not looked at the latest cubecart, might have a look and see about the upgrade path.

the version i have at the moment does not have a return path, i have to go back and adjust the stock and amend the order status by comparing against paypal payments, as the volume of sales is not huge its not an issue, i could not use it if i was a bulk seller.

i think thats the differance, simons sell so quickly, i cannot monitor the stock (one copy of fire and sword was sold after midnight) so causes this problem.
there is a return path back to the shop, but the version of cubecart i have doesnt work poperly with paypal. so am looking at an alternative.
there are several out there, CRE loaded and OSCommerce, just need to investigate them and set the site up...... what fun.

just pull a history from paypal accout for the few days since you listed the books, then match the email addresses to the orders, usually on ly takes ins, when i do the iggulden ltds i get quite a few sales very quickly and usually its around 30 copies, so comparable. its just a simple matching exercise, takes about 10 mins tops.

I didn't click the return to Scarrow site when I ordered!

Also, I always find it difficult (when I'm on the Scarrow site ordering a book) to see how to move on to paying for the order. Is there a way of making a "Pay now" button more obvious for slow wits like me?

I didn't even order mine through the website, and I haven't paid yet (but I will). That may be messing up Andy's figures too.

i had accounted for yours John, with the stock level on the shop, and i adjusted the stock after Parm and Ankhsy made there orders as i had accounted for them also through the

My problem Parm is if i list 20 copies on the shop, and they sell very very quickly (these 20 sold while i was asleep) but when the purchaser does the transaction the site takes the order, but doesnt reduce the stock, which means that i can sell more copies than i have in stock.
It's not my stock management it's the stock management on the actual EShop.
Parm can you ask your techie guy if he knows how to force all orders on cubecart to order status "processing" as this reduces the stock whether payment is complete or not, I can then manage the stock and up the stock if someone orders but doesnt pay etc etc

not having a go at your stock ability mate, as far as we can see cube cart does not allow for stock updates, at least not on the free version.
what i do if i have over orders is check the paypal time of payment and that secures the order, once stock limit is reached i email them and tell them the stock is gone, either that or you go on when ordered (time) and advise them they are on the waiting list to see if some one does not pay. Once they are gone they are gone...that sort of thing...it sucks for those who lose out...but there are only 25 copies, so they should be prepared for that, worth having a statement like that in the listing as well.

Looking at my diary....I'm in London 27th-29th January. I could train it up to Lincoln & stay overnight (is it far from London?). Does anyone have plans to attend? When is the Norwich launch?

I usually attend the lincoln signing and try and talk simon into an Indian meal afterwards, if i go the wife will come too.

Lincoln have an easy train ride from london, dont think its direct yet, but there is a direct line from kings cross to Newark and its only a quick ride to lincoln from there

Just seen a whopping big advert for Fire & Sword in the Sunday Times' Culture supplement. Takes up half the double page, splitting it in 2 horizontally. It's from Waterstones and saying that it's £3 off and it is their book to look out for in January.

Anyone else see this?
