Yes yes Decurion you can use a translator, BUT several times doesn't give you the correct meaning of sentence, like this "Oh meu grande cabrão!" . The meaning of "cabrão" you will find is a big male goat and it's correct, but the principal meaning, it is a "betrayed husband" and I advise you never say this word a man here in my country or probably you could get a black eye

| My parents once had some fun with a translation programme while they were living in Spain. They had a manual for the pump on the urbanization's swimming pool, but it was in Spanish. Some of it they could understand but some parts needed translation, so they fed them into the program and printed off the results. They were a bit puzzled to keep finding references to 'a water goat', an animal which seemed to be absolutely critical to the functioning of the pump. It was only when they checked back to the original with a Spanish speaking friend that they realised it was a 'hydraulic ram'... |

Simon: :) Water goat. I can imagine there were references to that inside joke for quite a while after that.....
Nisia, trust me, I have had some interesting translation errors during my extended trips outside the US. One in particular involved a friend playing a practical joke, my attempts in asking a very attractive waitress for the check, and the ensuing confusion (she was going to slap me in the face at first, until she realized I truly did not understand what I had said...I got the last laugh however. I got the date with her, not my friend.)

A lucky man Decurion in spite of confusion 
Sometimes in different countries where speak some language like Portugal and Brazil if you say "That girlis pretty" = "Aquela rapariga é bonita", here there are no problem because girl is "rapariga", but at Brazil, upa upa, it's same you call the girl, bitch, because that they use the word "moça" which here it mean, I suppose "lass"
As you see that's why they couldn't make a good translator.

Hi Decurion, it means "f***k you". The alternative is "Perite!" (f***k off!).
talk about translations (I'm sure I've told this story before), visiting my sister in Spain, in a fit of pique, I told her to "sod off" (in english). Her retort was she was sure I was being insulting, but what did a piece of grass have to do with it?

Our language was a lot of words with double sense, even we have a comm sentence sometimes we say to demonstrate that "The Portuguese language is very treacherous"
