Publishers are a bit twitchy about using this name because of the Stephanie Meyer vampire series. So I need to come up with a few quick suggestions.

Ideally, I'd like something that thematically links with 'Last Light' to help flag up that it's a sequel. Something that hints at promise on the horizon after a long period of darkness perhaps?

Any suggestions gratefully recieved....and if I end up using one, a nod to you in the author's acknowledgments!

The Light Before The Dawn, perhaps? Or Dawning Light? Or Dawn Arising? Or just Dawn!

Cheers

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm building a list....nothing yet has grabbed me as a slam-dunk, but I think it's just a case of shuffling round phrases/words until something parses nicely

I had a thought this afternoon while driving...how about: Last Light 2: The Road to Recovery

you get an instant product link to the last book, and a nice catchy title for the new book...well i think its catchy anyway the bit after Last ligt 2 is changeable you can make it anything TBH

I agree dont like the tag line, but the Last Light 2: bit would provide continuity.
would the publisers like

Last Light 2: Twilight? would leave scope for Last Light 3: Daylight

How about;
Last Light 2: Dawn
Last Light 2: New Dawn
Last Light 2: Sunrise

Did think that Twilight is still the ending of light as it goes hand in hand with dusk etc etc, if this is just going to be a 2 book deal and book 2 ends on a positive note, then i needs an uplifting title, but if a 3 book deal then i'll be quiet... LOL

The House of Night and Day
The Bronze Threshold

I remembered these from Hesiod's Theogony...something about night and day living in the same house and meeting each other at the "bronze threshold" as one vacates the house for the other when day or night time comes.

Last stand.

Or moving on from 'I am Legend' which has a somewhat similar theme, how about 'I am Legion' (think of the biblical reference).

Funky: "21st century boys"

I imagine there's a kind of Mad Max scenario going on, so how about 'Piper Alpha'.

As an antidote to 'Last Light' how about - The Garden of Eden?

We All Fall Down.

Purple Haze?

Or Just

Haze?

''A generation of men is like a generation of leaves; the wind scatters some leaves upon the ground, while others the burgeoning wood brings forth - and the season of spring comes on. So of men one generation springs forth and another ceases.''

I've been pushing around name ideas that have 'light' in them eg: Daylight, Twilight, Candlelight etc

But what I haven't considered yet is titles that play with 'Last'

Last Stand
Last Dawn
Last ????

Given that last light was the previous title, I'd have thought that first something might be the way to go.

PS There is a thunderbug on my screen that seems to have got beneath the plastic surface and is scuttling about all over the place and there's nothing I can do to get the bugger out. Tried it on another micro interloper the other day and now have a splatted bug shape just below my menu bar. Little bastards (and I mean the twats at ACER who designed this bug friendly laptop).
