It has been brought to my attention that the CE copy of the book does not contain the extra story that is available in the waterstones special edition. This came as something of a surprise since I collected the ce directly from the printers at the same time that I signed the waterstones stock. The CEs came sealed, and in an effort to get them out to customers asap I signed them but did not look through the books, otherwise I would have noticed that they did not have the extra story.
Clearly this was a different print run, and having spoken to Headline it is now apparent that the waterstones printings were exclusive to waterstones. Now, while the CE is the CE and NOT the waterstones exclusive edition, I fully understand that some readers are going to be disappointed not to have the extra story in their copy of the CE. Because of that, any purchasers of the CE who wish to have the extra story can email and I will send them a signed copy of the short story in the mail to add to their CE. Note, this applies ONLY to those who ordered the CE.
I do hope that goes some way towards making up for any disappointment caused by this situation, and I thank the reader who brought this to my attention.
On a happier note. My editor just called to say that THE GLADIATOR is number two in the charts, based on the first three days of sales.

Simon...as they say...Sh!t happens...although i will take you up on picking up a copy (x2) of the short story with my CE's (x2) when i come down to the launch..LOL...have to keep my personal and shop entire collection full and complete..(grin)
Bloody great news about number 2...do you know who is number 1?

I just can't wait to get my hands on Gladiator. It'll be my Summer holiday read in Robin Hood's Bay where I first discovered your superb series sir! :)
My son bought me Centurion and, as usual, it was superb.

GLADIATOR IS A GREAT READ, CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT STORY. I HAVE TO CHECK INTO THE EXTRA STORY, I DON'T THINK I GOT IT - I ORDERED THE BOOK FROM AMAZON UK.

well some good news just been into my local Tesco and The Gladiator is sitting proudly at the number one slot! with thats boog boobed bird at number 2! woohoo!!!! even too a pic to proove it (will upload sometime soon....)

OK I have been waiting angtiuosly for this to be released then I missed launch day (not that I could be at the official launch but we have Waterstones in Leeds and it sells books).
I better go buy one tomorrow... I'm in Liverpool, hope they got some signed ones...
My son is in Norfolk (Dereham) visiting his Nan, Ive told him to try Jarolds... lol. |

Hey bats, Jarrold have them but also consider the WAterstones editions as they are differant and only £9 Jarrolds are more expensive for some reason.

I didnt get there. Ended up at a car boot sale buying books by some geezer called Dean Koontz :P But they had Centurion and Under the eagle as well!!
How many copies of Centurion do we have? Hehe

What about a signed copy directly from Headline? I apologize for not understanding all this, but I would assume the ones coming directly from Headline will have the extra story? If not, I will be contacting you for my signed story, never fear!  |

its a special edition only from the scarrow shop, it copes with a signed page from the manuscript and a special scarrowshop stamp making it a limited edition. and more valuable.

Went into one of the Waterstones in Norwich today... We didn't know there was TWO!! The first one didnt have any with the extra story but the nice Mr man behind the desk told us the other 1 might have one, went to the one that used to be Oticcers (or something like that) and we counted 32 signed with the extra story!! Now i know why we never find any anywhere else hehe, did Simon do a singning there or something because we also found signed Hunts, Under and Fire and Sword.
