I've fallen in love with Macro and Cato!
Since childhood The ancient Romans have been a favorite of our family.

Thank you Simon Scarrow
And thank you to all the fans, supporters and those helping with the project.

This means a lot to me, to some of my old friends, and to my whole family.

Roman history evokes a lot of nostalgia for us.

I think it's best to have:
American companies or directors
British (or other European) actors with varying European accents
Lots of good honest historical advisers
Great scenic, green, mysterious locations

Moriarty: I see that ten years in Britain have not changed your Imperial Roman outlook, Caesar.
Caesar (G): True, Moriartus, always a Roman eye.
Moriarty: Will you take wine?
Caesar: No thanks, I think I'll have a half of mild and a packet of crisps.

I think from my point of view the trouble with the American accent - for me - is that it sounds too 'modern' (I know that probably doesn't make any sense, but there you go). It would just jar in a classical context.

Germans should probably sound German. Gauls are a bit of a problem, as we don't know to what extent the French accent was influenced by Frankish invaders, but in any case a modern French accent would sound, to me, wrong. Anyone know if there's a native Breton accent? Breton has more in common with Celtic than French.

The Britons, of course, were not Celts. I think if anything something vaguely Welsh (the Irish were foreign interlopers who destroyed Scotland's native culture!), although one who make a case for Boudica to have an East Anglian accent (the trouble is, most people attempting one tend to come out more West Country or generic yokel).

As these are British books, I rather they remained essentially British - but it's the Americans who could provide the funding they deserve.

I spent an evening in the pub with a couple of American colleagues who were over on business explaining the various ways in which the word bollocks can be used. Try explaining to a half drunk american why "Its the bollocks" is a compliment while "It's bollocks" isn't.......

It's the "fanny pack" that really has me doing a double-take...
