This on its own is a good reason to leave the EU. Instead of prosecuting him for war crimes, the EU is rewarding Blair with its presidency.

BTW, this doesn't make me anti-British or anti-EU. I just think the issue stinks.

To be fair, the source is the Mail, a trenchantly right wing tabloid that has always hated Blair. That said... the idea of Blair becoming EU president is repulsive. I can think of current political leaders who have been so cynical, vote-chasing, amd dishonest as Blair. As you say, he should be indicted for war crimes. I suppose he is just one of the chosen, effortlessly sleazing his way through life, all slime and no substance. I guess my thoughts on the matter are clear enough!

Here's the BBC take on it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/gavinhewitt/2009/10/blair_for_president.html

The article finishes with an interesting thought, "If it is Tony Blair then there is the intriguing possibility of a former Labour leader as President of the European Union with potentially a Conservative prime minister in Downing Street."

i only hope poland or the czechs hold out until after a general election, then Cameron will have a referendum and we can tell them to stick this lisbon treaty and shove blair where the sun doesnt shine.
id love it if cameron told them to shove the EU where the sun doesnt shine.

If he's selected he has to give up all those lucrative "other jobs". I'd love to see him take office as EU President and then be chucked out if Cameron & Co have the guts to take us oout of the EU.

If TB is made President of Europe, does that make him immune from war crimes prosecution?

Why don't we make George W. Bush head of MENSA while we are at it?

Tony Blair is out of the running for EU presidency. It almost makes me believe there is justice in this world.

I wonder if any production company would care to make a 'The Execution of Tony Blair' drama? After all, it's fair to say Tony Blair is responsible for causing infnitely more death/harm/misery than Paul Gadd.
