Hey all,

Been wandering through all the stuff on the Wikipedia with regard to Rom and stuff, and read the section about Vitellus andguess whats mentioned at the bottom.....

quote:

"Vitellius is also an antagonist in Simon Scarrow's "Eagle" novels, based around Vespasian and his legion's exploits during the Conquest of Britannia."

Cool eh???

I've never really used the Wiki much in tha past, but it's one excellent resource!

Wikipedia is a great starting point for most things, and saves me getting out of my chair to search the bookshelves, but treat it with a bit of caution. There's no real control or further checking of submissions and editing, so a lot of errors and individual prejeudices creep in. These don't always get picked up by other users. I always try to look at the sources, and the contributors, before deciding if it has authority if it's important to me, but I do the same with books.

My department at University has banned Wikipidia as an acceptable resource due to the lack of editorial control, which basically means anyone can post anything they like.

Its a shame because I enjoy reading it, theres a good game you can play, you pick to words and then using Wikipidia links get from one to the other in seven steps.

The links are great, but as a reliable information source - no way.

Ah yeah, that's like the game 'Kevin Bacon'. Basically pick any actor/film director...and in seven or less film/tv projects find a link to Mr Bacon.
