Just finished young bloods. In all honesty I only picked this up because it was written by Simon as i love his writing style (massive under the eagle fan). And had absolutely no knowledge or interest in this era of history. But have to say its completely opened my eyes to this period and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Found I really started to care about the characters. a real page turner and im lookin forward to getting stuck into generals.

cheers.

Did you have a good world when you died? Enough to base a movie on?

Welcome, Andy! Let me be the first (or has someone beat me to this?) to welcome youto the forum.

Same here. I only picked up Young Bloods because it was written by Simon. It wasn't a period that really caught my imagination.But having read YB, I'm sold on it! Haven't yet got around to reading 'Generals' (sorry, still working on MPhil report, but I can't wait!

For those of you planning on going, or have been to Madris, you should visit the 'mesones' (by the Plaza Mayor. These underground tapas bars were converted from tunnels built during the Peninsular Wars to hide gunpowder and supplies against the French in Spain.

I picked up young bloods because I really like that period of history, and I must say that I really like Simon's writing style

Just finished Young Bloods last night.

Excellent. A slow starter but the pace picks up as it moves along. A tough decision to start this book from their births and I imagine one which Simon mulled over and over wondering if it would work. Far easier to start the book at the beginning of their military careers I would think, but it pays off to start at the beginning in my opinion. I felt a far deeper connection and understanding of the two characters by the end and am looking forward to the next one.

Nice work Simon, great job!

No disrespect Fast Paul - but who the hell are you? Do any of the regulars know you?

{I sincerely hope not - by God's will, we need some new blood and new ideas on here. Most of us have been here for yonks; you've been like a breath of fresh air.}
