Lol joke Thread but II Augusta vs the army of (equal size ish) napoleon and then of Wellingtons? even with there guns i would put money on the Romans Remember after first volley of fire most charged with swords+ bayonets so then romans after losing few men would slaughter and would a musket + rifle peirce there shields in first place?????

I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble.

ah but the romans would have to be able to close with the british ranks first and at volley fire of 3 rounds per min, they would have decimated the roman ranks !

i think we have discussed this already in another thread, will hunt around!

Roman shields were wood, so musket balls would indeed penetrate them. But "decimate" is not the word for a slaughter, Parm! It only means one in ten, killed, not one in ten left alive!

True... Decimating them wouldn't stop them... :)

But seriously the volley fire would kill a large amount.

Close quarters the Romans would win.

So what matters is who is leading the sides. Macro might just go straight in, but more likely he'd try to use cover to get close.

oh god you are being picky geeks i thought we did not have them here, by decimate i meant in the use of the word where there will be a slaughter.
i did not mean 1 in 10 would die.
Im aware of the meaning of decimation, but also you are aware that in this case it was used in placement of total slaughter

pssisshh
geeks

So you don't know the answer, Parm? Call yourself a Scarrow fan, do you, but don't think accuracy matters? Actually I know things because I read so many non-fiction books and reference websites. I'd rather be called a geek for knowing things than be called a fashionista for wearing designer suits!

Cheers
