Hello all,
My Dad introdued me to the books with my dread fasination with everything Roman, I finished all the Eagles books including Centurion and needed a further Eagles fix so Googled Scarrow to see if any further books are due, and stumbled across this Forum.

Hello everyone!
I am pleased to have found a site all about simon scarrows eagles novels, i have just finished the entire series and i loved it all! I am dying for him to write another book. The novels are detailed enough to remain uncritised by the snobby academic and easy enough to read so that people who do not study Roman history or archaeology academically can enoy them (such as my boyfriend). Macro and cato are such lovable characters (macro has a special place in my heart lol) and the fact that most of the series is based in my homland of briatin is a bonus for me. Ive been a student of archaeology and roman military history for over four years now, ive been on three excavations (one in pompeii working on Sullas seige and other stuff which was amazing!) Ive also worked in museums, at finds processing office's and with some unbelieveably knowledgable specialists. I'm 20 and my names jessica and now im babblying but theres my basic background in roman stuff.
Surprisingly i stumbled over under the eagle by accident and never could have believed how much i would enjoy the series. Does anyone here study archaeology or roman history? I find that scarrows books are perfect when you want to read something fictional about the period you love that allows you to relax and enjoy it wothout getting too much of a headache! (plus not haing to worry about handing in some essay or projecton it! lol) As much as i love adrain goldsworthys factual books it can be a bit straining at times when u read them!
By the way the website is very well structured and I am so happy i stumbled accross it! Well done on creatng it! I choose this thread to introdruce myself on because it seemed the logical chioce!
Oh by the way what did people thing of When the eagle hunts? The story was great but i found it a bit of a slow read compared to the eagles conquest and some of the other novels?
Anyway must run am rambling again!!! oopse |

Hi all.
I'm a newbie poster on here (but a regular on Conn Igguldens site)but view this one regularly, and I just decided it was about time I said hello to all you fine ladies and gentlemen.
Got to say I'm loving the "Eagle" series, even more so now seen as though the Legion I'm in (Legio XX.vv based in Chester) are on the covers of the new paperbacks :-)
Anyway, go easy on me guys.

Welcome Iceman, of course we'll go easy on you....honest
Besides I've heard that Conns forum can be a little harsh at times....hehe It's a lot more sedate here, some great discussions with some very wide ranging opinions, where no-ones opinion is right or wrong.... well thats only my opinion of course.. LOL

I have just joined this site after finishing Wolves, although I have read most of the other novels, regretably out of sequence- but I loved the reads so much that I was happy to take whatever the library could furnish me with! Still have Conquest and Centurion to go- both reserved and on their way. I have departed from my normal preference for Historical Murder Mysteries. I was looking for new authors on the net and scarrow came up.I am so glad that I followed through with them.Cato and Macro are an excellent team! Hope for further novels after Centurion.
How's this for a game of soldiers!!! |

| Good Morning, and regards from Spain. I found your website because your book 'Centurion' arrived this morning, thanks to Amazon.co.uk. Sorry to say I had'nt ordered it ( but I will read it) my husband Alistair did. He is due to have his first Historical novel published early next year and I think his publisher is hoping you may make a comment about on the sleeve. I am busy writing a sort of gardening book called ' The Menopausal Gardener'. Nice website. My husbands is www.Alistairforrest.com Look forward to reading the book |

Welcome Lynda! You'll enjoy Centurion - and the rest of the series - if you like Roman stuff. Brother Alex writes good thrillers too, if you see them in Spain. Your husband's book synopsis on his website looks rather interesting, do please let us know when its publication date is coming up so I can look out for it.
Cheers

| Thank you John for the welcome. Will keep you posted when the release date is confirmed. We had rain for the first time since early May last night, so maybe I can get some writing done instead of sorting out irrigation problems and keeping the garden thriving. Are you a writer then? |

Yes Lynda - but I write non-fiction, about tanks, their history and making models of them. Not in Simon or Alex's league!

Hi, I'm Yiannis from Cyprus. I just finished reading Eagle In The Sand and was about moving on to Centurion, but I think I better wait for the other - earlier books of the series to arrive with the post. I enjoyed every moment of reading the book, especially the two main characters, I also enjoyed a lot the plot around Symeon (commonly known - St. Peter), as well as the story of Jesus and his doings and the effort by the author to more or less give an earthly explanation of what hapened that days and how it all fitted in the big Judean revolt of 66AD. After Mariah's village was destroyed, the author puts us in a situation to ask our selves, is it possible that Christianity would never be what it is today...if the village wasn't attacked by Bannus? ??? Makes one think eh? The first followers of Jesus were indeed outcasted, had to hide yet today billions of people are christians, how could that all have started? Well, there you have an explanation that makes sence. Do I also see a big hint towards ...the "Da Vinci Code" saga? Yes I do! Brilliant!

Hi!
Yesterday, I was looking for videos or photos of the Q'sar Bashir fort (in the 7º book of the eagle), and found this web.
However, no pics or videos here; only two aerial photos of google earth.
Five minutes after, I found too anothers webs whith this photos and videos (Aleluyah!), and I thought: Wy not share it with the friends of the Scarrow's forum? And then I cut and paste the links in this forum.
I will return more times and try to post anothers locations of the adventures of Cato and Macro.
Sorry fo my (very ) bad english, and regards to all,
Pablo (Spain) |
