Hello

I was just looking on google for more information about Simon Scarrow and the eagle's series when I found his website and this forum and I truly have to say that I'm impressed! I've never heard from another author who is communicating with his fans in a forum just as Simon and Alex do it here, that's great! :-)
I stumbled about the eagle-books in a local bookshop and since then I couldn't stop reading until I had finished every book and therefore an empty purse and dark rings below my eyes.

My English is not very good, but I hope it is good enough to contribute to the discussions in this forum!

greetings from Switzerland

Claudius

Welcome Claudius! Your English is far better than my German, Italian or French - or Romansch if you're from that part of Switzerland.

Cheers

Thank you for those kind words! :-)
But I have to admit that I relied quite a lot on a dictionary to get up with those words...;-)

Hullo

I've always been interested in Rome, probably my favourite part of history (ever since I played Rome: Total War, strangely), and for my birthday one of my presents was Centurion, which was great. So great that I felt compelled to read the rest of the books(in the correct order from here on)! I then searched Mr Scarrow to see if he has any more books lined up, which I am glad to see he has with The Gladiator, and so I ended up here via Google.

Cheers

How did I find the site? That is the funny thing. I won Simon's latest book, The Gladiator, on another site. I entered the contest on a whim, and was extremely surprised when I had won. I had not read any of the books up to that point (sorry Simon!) and Googled his name in to find out the rest of the series (can't read the latest without reading the previous, obviously!) Well after Under the Eagle, I was hooked. I am now up to Eagle and Wolves, and eagerly awaiting my prize in the mail.

As a former soldier myself, I can appreciate the "earthy" characters in the books. I was know to go a bit Macro myself, back then.

Thanks, by the way, for one of the most enjoyable series I have read.I look forward to my quiet time to delve further into the adventures of Macro and Cato.

Thanks Centurion Parmenion. The goal is to get enough old soldiers here to create our own century...What do we do then? Well what all old soldiers do! Drink and see who can tell the best lies!

Thank you Parmenion. That means more to those folks than most realize. My days in the sandbox were many years ago, but nothing could make your day than unexpected care package from a stranger. Seemed to mean more than even the family ones. You expect mom and dad to care, but from a stranger? That makes it even more special. I name you an honorary old soldier from this broken down old cav trooper. You are doing more than your part.

why thank you!
One of the things im happt to see is a rise in the way we the public are looking after the troops, there are more and more help the heroes type groups springing up around the country, doing great work.
its one area that the american are way ahead of us and we should look and learn. we lack a major amount of respect for our troops and what they do for us.

Found the site through a google search, i stumbled on Centurian in my hotel reception, loved the book and have been hooked ever since, through sheer good luck their was another Eagle book in thier little library and i had read them both by the 1st week , Maldives nowt else to do bar drink :) snorkel and read :) ive meant to post a few times but sometimes its enough just to read up on what the regulars (plebs) are saying :)
after reading the books in completley the wrong order i eventually re -read in the correct order and still loved them.

regards
John

Hi! I'm another one from switzerland and found this page with google. As I just said in my topic, I'm sad about the german publishers. In Switzerland, Austria and Germany, there are only two books available in this time. The first and fourth book are like antiquarian. Simon Scarrow could have much more success in the german public if all the books are available..... like the books from John Maddox Roberts. To those who have contact with the publishers: Can you push them a little bit more to publish the other books of the series and make a new release for the older ones? Sorry for my english, I speak usually german and french at work and don't practice the english language very much.
