Using Google Earth you can find the fort where Macro and Cato took on Bannus and his boys at:
31 degrees 20'16.05 N
35 degrees 58'51.63 E

Thats great Simon, thankyou, i did see that fort but wasnt sure if that was it or not, coulnt get my geography right. hehe, for those of you who dont have GoogleEarth here's some pics:

The hairs on the back of my nexk stood up on seeing that photo...thanks Andy. That, together with the other stunning photos bring those times so vividly back to life.

they do indeed, if i use my imgination enough, i can even picture the troops around the fort and cato looking up and waving, before being puched by macro for being stupid...ROFL

if you look at it from a further out perspective it really shows how desolate the landscape is.
