The same way (however it was done) that women managed to disguise themselves as men in several armies during the Napoleonic Wars. Tight binding round the top and never fully undress, I would suppose.

Time for Chapter 12, I think - and then Andy can get on with collating the last chapters. (grin)

Maybe we should have a bit from Parmenion about how hard it was to find Simonius' camp? They _are_ supposed to be hidden if I remember rightly.

Cori, Parm beat you to the posting, and I've just followed Parem's storyline. You'll have to amend yours to fit it or delete it, I'm afraid.

lets have them bring the lot, we need to set up a seige line ahead of the approaching horde.
we also want to send out patrols to watch for the advance etc.. so we can have sub plots from there.

Shall we set up the seige lines back at the village??

i suppose so, ankhsy threw a spanner in the works with us building seige engines, we may have to have them broken down and carry the parts with us.
we can then set a siege line turn back the initial attack then have to go and retake a few towns

Siege engines were always carried as components, so no problem.

If we now have engineers with the Legion (as we should) they need a chief. I've named his Salsus.

Parm, it's time you updated the character thread. Dagda is no longer "out there plotting", he's been captured and should be turning up for more interrogation soon.

im not sure i think it might be better if we deliberatly take them to the prefect only, thus making the clerk have to try and find out what the orders were and thus expose herself!

Will someone tell me where the dickens Simonius wants to take his men and why? We're all going round in circles at the moment.

i know, i wa trying to have him shaken due to his dislike for intrigue and have him worried about the loyalty of some men, then shake it off and just deal with it as it happens. Parm cantius and a few others he trusts can help him out

im thinking tactics wise if we hold them at the pass, have cavalry harrasing their flanks and stopping them from finding other ways around us, we then burn out the farm land behind them thus starving them out and breaking the attack before the onset of winter drives them all home.????

If we want a bit of suspense they can find an unguarded way through the mountains (cavalry aren't much good on mountain tracks) and be intercepted at the last moment before crashing into the Legion's rear.
