but parmenion is on a horse arriving back at camp so how is he coming out of a tent?
we now have a large continuity error that will need to be fixed when you edit it john, there is a gap from when parmenion arrives back with his men (on horse back) to him being there coming out of his tent and meeting men on horses with a white flag

I see the four new arrivals as deserters from the conspirators side, maybe having just realised what they had been recruited for. Or as liaison arriving from Simonius' new Legions? No, I think it's far too soon for anyone to reach the Helvetian side of Gaul from Hispania.

Parm, where _are_ Parmenion and his men going? I've forgotten what their vital mission actually is.
Don't forget that horses have to be walked for 10 minutes an hour, or they can't continue.

we will be going back there very very soon.
I think we need to get some men detailed to act as look out and guards for the engineers that are goin to arrive to build fortifications. then send parmenion and the rest of his men off on a spying mision. then switch

so john were are we going with the latest chapter?? will they be part of the legion? or traitors, or should we send them to act as part of the defence against the horde leaving them to have mixxed felings about attacking epople they know??

I sometimes think we're getting like the old Roman galley advert for thebeer that rached the parts other beers couldn't reach - "Stop, stop, we're goping round in circles!"
I think "defence against the horde" is the way to go - mixed feelings, but with Jehanus determined to make sure they side with the Romans whom he knows are bound to win in the end.

I think we're moving toward the idea that the Roman gods and teh Celtic gods were the same, just with different names. That should help reconcile Stomachus to Jehanus' plans.

Good idea! And the attack on Cantius' party close to the fort can also lead to an attack on the village, providing the impetus for Jehanus' men to fight beside the Romans instead of against them.

I think the way to explain the Gauls' ability to beat off an attack on the village and resuce the fort has to be that they were already in armour and about to start another training exercise when the rebels attacked. Agreed?
