I love Christmas, and I'm an atheist! I personally don't think it matters why one celebrates it, whether you believe in the Christmas story, or are a pagan Roman (in which case you are celebrating the festival of Sol Invictus - which is why the Catholic Church hijacked the date), or just like me love the lights and the decorations and an excuse for having family and friends together. Christmas, like Diwali, or Halloween, or Hannukka has global appeal irrespective of their religious origins. The Hindus in our Indian restaurant have a large gorgeous nativity set which comes out at Christmas where they also include their Indian deities. I think its just great.
